Dear Neighbors,
Please come out next Wednesday with your friends, partners, neighbors, and city and state leaders for an important community discussion surrounding the signs and impacts of intimate partner violence. We will also discuss current law and the law enforcement processes in place for handling domestic violence cases, as well as what we can do as individuals to shift our culture by becoming more aware, receptive, and supportive.
Where: Tuttle Middle School Cafeteria
When: Wednesday, October 30, 5:30-8pm (supper will be provided)
Speakers: Community member Gretchen Gundrum, Officers Gregg Jager and Sarah Superneau, Chittenden County State's Attorney Sarah George, Parallel Justice representative Susanna Weller, Education and Prevention Coordinator Marla Goldstein of Steps to End Domestic Violence, with City Council Chair Helen Riehle and SB Community Justice Center Coordinator Lisa Bedinger moderating.
The goals of this forum are education and empowerment so that it may become easier for us in this community to reach out to one another -- to ask for support and to provide it as needed. The upcoming forum continues and builds upon the discussion from the forum held earlier this month.
Thank you, and I hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Meaghan Emery
South Burlington City Council Vice-Chair
