If you are interested in improving the internet speed at your home or business, consider attending a meeting hosted by the Hyde Park Fiber Committee on Nov 12th at 3pm at the Hyde Park Town Offices. The meeting will feature a presentation and a discussion with Michael Birnbaum of Kingdom Fiber.
Kingdom Fiber has been working with communities in the Northeast Kingdom to improve existing internet service. Notable achievements include a collaboration with the Town of Crafstbury where 13 miles of fiber optic cable was constructed to bring high quality infrastructure and reliable internet service to town residents. Kingdom Fiber is also working several other towns that, collaboratively, decided to pursue a goal where every home and every business will have access to internet delivered through fiber optic infrastructure. Fiber optic lines are capable of delivering very fast internet speeds (100 Megabits per second). The speed is symmetrical for both downloading material from the internet and uploading materials to the net.
