The Burlington Tenant's Union will be hosting their first Tenant Summit in Burlington on Sunday, November 3rd, from 12:30-4:30 at the Fletcher Free Library. A meal and childcare will be provided, and we ask for you to RSVP if possible at BurlingtonTenantsUnion.Com/Summit. This is an event put on by tenants and for tenants who are tired of paying too much of their income to rent, tired of having their lives controlled by negligent and greedy landlords, and want to regain control of their lives and create solutions together.
The summit will be a 4-hour gathering where tenants will come together, discuss housing issues, and organize around their housing experiences. Here we will explain what are the Tenant Unions values and goals. Following this event will be a tenant organizing workshop on November 17th, and a Tenants Rights Advisory Workshop to be determined at a later date. More info can be found at BurlingtonTenantsUnion.com/upcoming-events/.
As a new organization fighting for the rights of Burlington renters and those who are unhoused, who make up 60% of residents or 24,000 tenants, we want fellow tenants to shape our future issues and fights. As a new organization we want to hear from low-income and marginalized tenants, from immigrants to people of color who continue to face the effects of segregation, racism, and gentrification.
Please join us on Sunday, November 3rd from 12:30-4:30pm at the Fletcher Free Library. For more info email us at BurlingtonTenantsUnion@gmail.com
The mission of the Burlington Tenants Union is to increase tenant power, improve housing quality and to democratize housing in the Greater Burlington area. Through education, direct action, and tenant organizing we fight landlords' power in Burlington.
