On this Sunday, October 27th, the Brookfield Historical Society will be hosting "These Old Tunes are Good Enough for Me: Harold Luce, the story of a Vermont Fiddler by Adam Boyce." The program will begin at 4:00 PM at Brookfield's Pond Village Church and will be followed by a potluck supper. A brief BHS annual meeting will be held just before the presentation.
Harold Luce was a featured performer at the Smithsonian in the mid 1980's, and he appeared in the documentary "New England Fiddles," along with winning various awards at fiddle contests. Adam Boyce, one of Luce's many pupils, will share photos, audio recordings, and personal recollections of Harold, and will also play a few favorite tunes that he learned from Luce. Mr. Boyce is a fiddler, composer, and author who studied the traditional music and dance history of New England and is a popular member of the Vermont Humanities Council Speakers Bureau.
This event is free, open to the public, and accessible to those with disabilities. Come one and all, and feel free to bring a dish or dessert to share.
