Dear Neighbors,
We need your help. Please donate food to the New North End Food Pantry for its Halloween Food Drive.
Did you know?
The New North End Food Pantry serves 60-90 families a week by providing food and supplies to those in need. Tom Fleury runs this volunteer program, which relies exclusively on donations. The Pantry is located in the back of the Odd Fellows Lodge at 1416 North Ave.
Why now? What's changed?
Historically, the Pantry relies on food donations from individuals such as yourself, which it receives when we hold November elections. The Pantry then uses these individual donations as a bridge to supplement its other reoccurring large-scale donations.
O.K., I am sold. How do I donate?
Please drop off any food items at either of the following 3 options on October 31st.
1) Tom Fleury will be at 1416 North Ave. ready to accept all donations from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on Halloween Day. Furthermore, Tom is there every Saturday and Sunday mornings until 11:30 willing to accept donations.
2) If you cannot make it to the Pantry, there will be a group of high schoolers who are willing to pickup your donations curbside (more information on this option to follow).
3) Lastly, from 5:30-7:00 p.m., I will be at the Trunk or Treat event at the North Avenue Alliance Church, and will be accepting donations there to drop-off at the Pantry.
Great. What do I donate?
The top items most requested at the Pantry are non-perishable food stables. Examples: boxed cereal, canned soup & stews, peanut butter, mayonnaise, canned beans, canned chicken or tuna, nuts, rice, etc. Generally, any food item that is nutrient dense and shelf-stable would work.
O.K., anything else that I can do? Remind people to donate and tell your neighbors.
Thank you to all those helping Tom organize this event, most importantly to Dave Harnett and Ali Dieng.
Sincerely,
Franklin L. Paulino
