Round Church Bicentennal Concert Series Continues on

A heartfelt thanks to all those in the community who turned out to participate in our three days of celebration this past weekend. We are most thankful for the glorious weather, the vendors, musicians, dignitaries, volunteers who helped put on the activities and our sponsors. It was indeed a great weekend not to be forgotten.

Thanks to the efforts of Tim Whiteford, our concert series continues. First in the limelight will be The Social Band performing in the Round Church on Friday August 30 at 7:00 PM. Featuring a powerful, full sound, the Social Band brings warmth and vitality to a broad musical repertoire that includes American shape-note and Appalachian music, British Isle counterparts, Balkan and Georgian music, European medieval and renaissance music. There will be a suggested donation of $10 per person.

On Friday, September 20, The Modern Grass Quintet, will be front and center at the Round Church at 7:00 PM. "The Modern Grass Quintet performs contemporary, progressive and traditional bluegrass for all audiences. The group, formed in the fall of 2009, comprises current and former members of the Bluegrass Gospel Project, as well as the Bluegrass Storm, the Cleary Brothers, and PossumHaw. Whether they play a Bob Dylan classic, a fast-driving instrumental from the Golden Age of bluegrass, an old-time fiddle tune or one of many compelling band-written songs, the Modern Grass Quintet performs with risk-taking originality, drive and soul. A band not to be missed!" There is a suggested donation of $10 for this concert as well.

If you have never been to a concert in the Round Church these two concerts will provide you with an opportunity to see and hear why musicians love the acoustics of this special building. Any profits realized from Bicentennial concerts will be used to sponsor additional concerts and help maintain the Round Church.
