The Morristown Selectboard will be holding an informational meeting regarding the expansion of the Duhamel Gravel Pit on October 21, 2019 at 6 pm at the Tegu Building on Portland St.. The selectboard has been working on an Act 250 permit application for the expansion of the pit into the upper meadows of the Duhamel land. Engineering plans for the expansion and other specifics of the project will be available to the public Monday night. Unresolved issues that may be discussed include building a new parking lot on the town land, moving and/or terminating certain mountain bike trails in the vicinity of the pit as well as possibly building a disc golf course. I encourage those who enjoy the recreational value of this beautiful land to come to the meeting and ask good questions and make comments that will help the selectboard tailor the application to the needs of those of us who use it the most and know it the best.
