Poultney River History Hike

Past event
Oct 26, 2019, 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM

The Nature Conservancy in Vermont is leading a 2-mile river hike about the Poultney River and how it has changed over time.

Hike to a seldom-visited floodplain in the Lower Poultney River Natural Area preserve to explore river ecology, river conservation issues, and a story of how this preserve changed in the 1700's from the head of a navigable bay of Lake Champlain to the river that we know today. Participants should be prepared to hike up to 2 miles with some gradual elevation change, with possibly some off-trail walking over wet ground and through thick old-field vegetation. We'll be making a lunch stop, so please bring your own lunch! Please contact Paul at pmarangelo@tnc.org with any questions.

This trip is limited to 15 people. Please RSVP here (copy and paste address in your browser): https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/volunteer-and-attend-events/find-local[...]ke/
