Fall is the time to prepare new beds for spring planting. We will teach this method of building healthy soil while we create our newest help-yourself satellite garden in the front yard of a private home in a sweet neighborhood near downtown Brattleboro. The no-dig sheet mulch garden bed retains water during dry periods, drains well when it is wet, provides abundant fertility without adding any commercial fertilizer, builds and maintains a complete healthy soil ecosystem which provides for natural pest and disease reduction, and sequesters carbon in the soil for 12 – 15 years. Come ready to move organic matter, move soil and get a little dirty. If you can, bring garden gloves and a spade.
