Plainfield Hazard Mitigation: Disabilities and Disaster

Past event
Oct 17, 2019, 7 to 8:30 PM

Persons with disabilities and those with long-term chronic illness can be very challenged by disasters. They may require special support people or devices which require electricity; they may be unable to move quickly from a threatened area or require mobility assistance; and could be easily thrown by anxiety or other incapacity when events become threatening.

As part of our agenda on Thursday evening, Plainfield's Hazard Mitigation Committee will begin an exploration of how to assist people with chronic illness or disability to prepare for natural and human-caused disasters.
