At Castleton Free Library, we have made a commitment to following "green" practices and providing informational programming and resources focused on sustainability. We look especially for projects that inspire hope and concrete actions, with adults and kids working together on grassroots solutions.
This month we are pleased to partner with the Poultney-Mettowee Natural Resources Conservation District and Champlain Valley Restoration Nursery to present a free workshop on native plants and pollinators on Monday, October 14th at 6:30 pm. There will be two speakers with short slide presentations, followed by a hands-on activity making "pollinator hotels" from bamboo tubes and wood. Lia Mcfarline is a beekeeper from Mcfarline's Apiary in Benson, VT, and Sadie Brown is the Nursery Manager at PMNRC.
While pre-enrollment is not required, it would greatly help us with planning. If possible, please call 468-5574, email castletonfreelibrary@gmail.com, or contact us on Facebook to leave a message with your name and the number of people attending. The program is designed for adults and "all ages beyond small children" - you be the judge. All materials will be provided. The program will run until about 8:00 or 8:30 pm.
