The UU Society of Hartland, Vermont, founded in 1802, is a friendly and energetic Unitarian Universalist Community. Love is our doctrine, the quest for truth our sacrament, and service our prayer. Our mission is to build connections, to search for truth and meaning, and to strengthen community in our region and the wider world.
Sunday, October 13, in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day and our October worship theme, Democracy, Rev. Paul Sawyer will offer reflections on country, community, and colonialism, with special inspiration from poet Richard Blanco's latest book, How to Love a Country.
The collection this week will support the Winter Center for Indigenous Traditions, a Native-coordinated, not-for-profit service organization that focuses on issues of Indigenous people and culture in the northeast.
Through a variety of events and programs, the Winter Center helps Native communities and families in health crises and many other aspects of Native community survival. They also work to preserve Abenaki burial grounds, sacred places, and ancient sites, and to repatriate Abenaki ancestral remains, grave goods, sacred items, and artifacts that have been disturbed in the Abenaki homelands including Vermont, New Hampshire, northern Massachusetts, western Maine, and southern Quebec.
Please join us for worship and religious education for children on each Sunday beginning at 10 am. Free and open coffee hour immediately following the service.
We are located at 8 Brownsville Rd, (next to Skunk Hollow Tavern), just off Rt 12 in Hartland Four Corners.
