Theater artist and storyteller Leng Wong will share her experiences as an emigrant from China in a solo performance of her original piece "99 Facts About an Immigrant" at a benefit for the Community Asylum Seekers Project (CASP) on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Colonel Williams Inn in Marlboro.
Along with her performance, there will be generous hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar serving beer and wine. Following the performance, there will be coffee, cookies, and a discussion of how the Southern Vermont community can help those who seek asylum in this country.
Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at www.thecolonelwilliamsinn.com/99facts or by calling (802) 257-1093. Space is limited, so advance purchase is strongly suggested although there may be tickets available at the door.
The organizers encourage attendees to "put aside all the negative news and join us for a light-hearted evening of funny, sad, thought-provoking moments and community conversation." Doors open at 6:30pm; performance begins at 8:00pm.
CASP provides basic needs and a supportive community for the six families who are currently housed in southern Vermont while they await their court hearings. Information can be found at www.caspvt.org.
