Big Woods Voices Sing at the Tinmouth Old Firehouse October 11
Big Woods Voices will fill the Old Firehouse with a capella harmony on October 11 at 7:30 PM. The group unites four veteran Vermont singers from the Brattleboro area in celebrating their common passion for a cappella (no instrumental accompaniment) singing. The group consists of Alan Blood, Becky Graber, Amanda Witman, and Will Danforth, singer-songwriter, traditional acoustic artist, and the group's arranger/composer. They marry singing traditions from around the world with various American roots genres. They concoct original compositions and arrangements in which harmony and dissonance dance in riveting yet accessible soundscapes.
Imagine lyrical settings of poetry, richly-harmonized standards of the American folk and roots lexicon; and completely original compositions. Danforth concocts original compositions and arrangements in which harmony and dissonance dance in riveting yet accessible soundscapes. Add to that gems by musicians such as Pete Sutherland, The Finest Kind, and the Stanley Brothers, and you have the ear-thrilling experience called Big Woods Voices.
Concert begins at 7:30 PM. Doors open at 7 PM. No-charge raffle at intermission for free tickets for future concerts. The Old Firehouse is at 9 Mountain View Road at the intersection of Vermont 140 and Mountain View Road, next to the new Firehouse in the heart of downtown Tinmouth. Suggested donation of $10 to $15; 90% to the musicians; 10% to the Town for maintenance of the Old Firehouse. The Tinmouth Mountain School Parents Club is providing refreshments. Your donations will help support school activities.
