Oct 24, 2019, 4 to 5:30 PM

10/24 - 4pm - Stearns Performance Space @ NVU-J's Campus - Free and Open to the Public

Gaelynn Lea won NPR Music's Tiny Desk Contest in 2016, and she's been on the road ever since playing her unique mix of original songs and traditional fiddle tunes. In recent years, Lea has used her music as a platform to advocate for people with disabilities and to promote positive social change. In this talk, Gaelynn Lea will share her personal experience of living, loving, and working with a disability. She will discuss the barriers that still face people with disabilities and highlight activism efforts that can help further the goal of equality for all. Gaelynn will discuss why disability inclusion is so important, and how the concept of Disability Pride can help transform our culture.
