Experience beloved scenes of our state as you've never seen them before: elegantly assembled in hand-cut native and exotic wood forms. The artist is Sam Macy, a graduate of The University of Vermont where he studied mathematics, art and architecture. His love of the outdoors and the intrinsic beauty of each species of tree inspired his vision to create not only iconic landmarks and landscapes such as Camels Hump and the Jericho Mill, but commissioned pieces as well, many depicting wedding venues or replications from loved photos and memories. Using natural, untouched and unstained wood, Sam builds custom frames and fills them with the unique beauty of the Champlain Valley and beyond. Sam, 27, has been honing this art form for about a year, and the timeless beauty of his pieces has earned him many followers in that short time. His work is being displayed publicly for the first time in a solo show at Rustic Roots in Shelburne Village. An opening reception and meet & greet with the artist will be this Thursday, October 10th from 6pm to 8pm at Rustic Roots. "Natural Color" can be seen now through November 24th during the restaurant's business hours. Artwork is available for sale and the artist is currently accepting commissioned ideas. Stop by for some wine and cheese on Thursday and check out these amazing pieces!
