Kurt Valenta will be giving a presentation from his Exordium Nature Series: The Forest Duff, an investigative sojourn to the forest floor.

One of the most distinctive features of the forest ecosystem, it teems with a wide variety of fauna and flora and is one of the richest environments in biodiversity because of the large numbers of decomposers and predators. The forest floor, with its vegetative matter, is a crucial component in nutrient transfer to mineral soil. A vital part of the natural cycle, it is unseen and underfoot, but should be understood. You will never go into a forest the same way again!
