Have you made it out to Calais to catch a great band and grab a drink at the Whammy Bar? If not, might I recommend it - The Whammy Bar is a fantastic small music venue and incredible community resource located in the back room of the Maple Corner Store. While the store may be most frequently utilized by Calais residents, the Whammy Bar has become a destination venue for all of Central Vermont and beyond! Bands tell us they LOVE playing here, and patrons come back time and time again for the great food, close community connections, and world class music in an intimate setting.

What you may not know is the store and Whammy Bar have been for sale for well over two years. For the last 18 months, a small but dedicated group of community members have formed a corporation called the Maple Corner Community Store and are selling shares to community members far and wide. We've raised almost $300,000 of the $450,000 needed to buy the store (building and business) and continue to build on it's current reputation. Our goal is to raise the remaining funds by November 1st and close soon there after. It will take a big community effort, but together, we can ensure this community asset remains such for generations to come.
