Free and open to the public of all ages. Family friendly. No pre-registration necessary – just show up to 58 Barre Street, Montpelier (Montpelier Senior Activity Center - 1st Floor Community Room)!
Mark Laxer has hosted travel storytelling gatherings in Washington DC and Cambridge VT since 1996. The idea is for people to gather to share stories, culture, and an optional potluck. The format of a TC is largely informal, and all ages and backgrounds are welcome. A TC isn't about hearing just one or two people, or a small number of experts. No one applies or pays, and it isn't competitive or a series of lectures. People who attend don't have to tell a story, but doing so is gently encouraged. There is typically a suggested theme or two, to start things off. People hear a story, and it may spark ideas for the next story. Attendees are encouraged to listen and to develop their own voices. Potluck: Bring your own plate, cutlery and a dish (labeled) to share.
