Movie Night and Discussion at the Stowe Free Library

Past event
Oct 4, 2019, 6 to 8 PM

"The public library is the last bastion of true democracy that we have in this country…" This line, more than any spoken in a recently released Emilio Estevez film, speaks to the unique relationship between public libraries and people who are homeless. Every day, people without housing seek refuge in public libraries because libraries are places that, by design, do not charge for access, are relatively quiet, offer an opportunity for escape, and are the one place in the community where they can be accepted as part of the community.

The Stowe Free Library will show the film written, starring and directed by Estevez at 6:00 p.m. Friday October 4. Following the free screening, community members are invited to join in a discussion of the film and the issues it raises.

For more information, please contact Nancy by telephone at (802) 253-6145; by email circulation@stowelibrary.org; or stop by the library at 90 Pond, Stowe VT. Also, feel free to visit our website (where you can find out what movie we are showing!) at www.stowelibrary.org.
