The Brattleboro Planning Commission is kicking off a 3-day interactive workshop on Thursday, October 3 with a public meeting at 7:00 pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center. Community members are invited to discuss ideas and share aspirations for downtown at the opening night and throughout the following days.

On Friday, October 4 there will be a series of walking tours where people can join the project team to walk and talk their way through downtown. Discussions will focus on needs and potential improvements to pedestrian and bicycle facilities, stormwater management, public spaces, public art and more. Tours will leave at 10:00 am from the Municipal Center Parking Lot, 11:30 am from Pliny Park, 1:00 pm from the Preston Lot and 2:30 pm from Depot Street Parking Lot. Come for all or just a portion of a walk!

Later that evening, stop in at 118 Elliot Street during Gallery Walk from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Bring images or share ideas for public art installations. Indicate your preferences for public art strategies and locations.

On Saturday, October 5, an Open Design Studio will be held at 118 Elliot Street. The project team will be working on specific plans for downtown public spaces including Bridge and Depot Street and the Whetstone Pathway. Multiple stations will be set up for people to share ideas, ask questions and discuss opportunities for improving public spaces.

The charrette concludes with a work-in-progress presentation at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center at 7:00 pm on October 9. "We hope the community will join us in planning the future of downtown," says Sue Fillion, Planning Director.
