Free workshop on Disability & Reasonable Accommodations or Modifications in Housing in Room 266 of the Asa Bloomer Building, 88 Merchants Row, Rutland, VT. The presenter will be Melissa Horwitz, Investigative Attorney with the Vermont Human Rights Commission. This workshop will examine the Federal Fair Housing Act (FHA) and its protections for people with disabilities, why you should be concerned about disability and housing, what are reasonable modifications and reasonable accommodations, how to make requests for them, service v. assistance animals, information a landlord can request regarding disability, examples & scenarios of reasonable accommodation/modification requests, and more. All are welcome to the workshop, including renters, public housing managers, private landlords, service providers and others. Please pre-register if possible.
