For most of my 44 years in Reading, the Old Home Day parade went right past my front door. We loved it! People came from near and far for a day in Felchville. We missed it this year. Did you?
Please call a friend and come to the Town Hall this Wednesday October 2nd at 7 pm and bring your thoughts, ideas, hopes and dreams on keeping this 100 year old Reading tradition going.
(There will be snacks)
Old Home Day has changed over the years. You can read some of the story in this month's Informer. In the coming years we can have a continuation of past traditions as well as lots of room for creativity and innovation.
Here are some things for us to consider:
- Should our community continue to host an annual celebration?
- Should it take place around Independence Day or some other time in the summer?
- What did you miss most about Old Home Day this summer?
- What is worth keeping and what can be let go?
- What can we add to the celebration?
AND...if you are unable to come on Wednesday, please send your thoughts, ideas, questions, or just enthusiastic appreciation to ReadingOldHomeDay@gmail.com.
