Learn about Springfield Area Parent Child Center with Margot Holmes, Executive Director
Margot Holmes, Executive Director, Springfield Area Parent Child Center (SAPCC), will speak on Thursday, October 3, 2019, as part of the Chester Rotary First Thursday Lecture Series, held at The Fullerton Inn, Chester, VT, from 5:15-6:30 PM.
Margot will discuss the important role of the Parent Child Center with its dedicated staff and volunteers who touch the lives of thousands of young children, youth and adults in North Windham and Southern Windsor Counties each year. SAPCC provides early childhood education and family support services, and collaborates with numerous community groups to fulfill their mission - building strong communities, one family at a time.
Parent Child Centers (PCCs) are a network of 15 community-based nonprofit organizations serving all of Vermont. All PCCs, including Springfield Area Parent Child Center deliver critical and essential state services to families with young children.
SAPCC, and all parent child centers, use a research-informed approach to provide these types of wrap-around services to countless families in the communities served. This multi-generational approach is called the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework. It is based on engaging families, programs, and communities in building five key protective factors:
- Parental resilience
- Social connections
- Knowledge of parenting and child development
- Concrete support in times of need
- Social and emotional competence of children
The community is invited to attend the monthly event of Chester Rotary First Thursday. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and the bar at the Fullerton will be open. For planning purposes, please RSVP to chestervtrotary@gmail.com.
