Burlington will be participating in Earth Hour (http://www.earthhour.org/), which we have done since 2007. This year the event will be held on Saturday, March, 29, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. This world-wide event focuses on climate change awareness. Burlington’s participation will include turning off the lights on Church Street and City Hall tower for the hour. The UU Church at the top of Church Street will also turn its lights off and the Vermont Astrological Society will set up telescopes on the UU lawn to view the planets and to celebrate the night sky. The city is encouraging all its residents to help observe this event by turning your home lights off for the hour. Read more about this event and find out what other cities around the globe are participating on the Earth Hour website.
