Snake Worms in Horticulture Workshop
We cordially invite landscaping, horticulture and composting professional to join us at the North Branch Nature Center for a closer look at invasive snake worms (Amynthas and Metaphire). We will explore what we know about the damage they cause and the potential for managing them in production and garden settings. We will visit the tree nursery of the Montpelier Tree Board to get close up and personal with these invaders. Learn how to identify the three species that are present in Vermont.

The workshop is limited to 25 participants.
The workshop is a collaboration between snake worm researchers of the University of Vermont and the Montpelier Tree Board. The workshop is funded through
Vermont's Department of Agriculture Specialty Crop Block Grant Program as part of a block grant program of the USDA –Agricultural Marketing Service.
The workshop is led by Josef Görres (Associate Professor, Plant and Soil Science) and Maryam Nouri-Aiin (Graduate Student, Plant and Soil Science). Josef has
researched these earthworms for 10 years. Maryam has been working on their ecology, genetics and on identifying potential biocontrol agents for over 2 years.
