Who is Lamoille Community House?
We are a 14-bed shelter situated at 103 Main Street in Hyde Park, open November 15 – April 15 annually. We provide basic needs services (cots, bedding, hot shower, toiletries, towels, hot meals, laundry), as well as quick access to community services coordinated through our robust referral partnerships.

OUR mission is to provide safe emergency winter shelter to adults experiencing homelessness in Lamoille Valley in order to ensure a healthier community.

OUR goal is to minimize a person's episode of homelessness. Our shelter plays an important role in our collective safety and health, by wrapping our vulnerable guests in opportunity, providing pathways to safer harbors. With the dedication of our staff and volunteers, our guests can envision and manifest a new stage of stability.

OUR History:
YEAR 1 (Dec. 27, 2017 – April 15, 2018): Enough is Enough!
A grassroots 100% volunteer effort, we open church and synagogue doors to Vermonters in need of shelter from the cold. We provide basic needs and minimal social work support to 14 individuals.

YEAR 2 (Dec. 12, 2018 – April 25, 2019): It Takes a Village!
Through the support of a state grant, local businesses, and private donors, we hire staff to operate our shelter in a yellow house in Hyde Park, VT, generously donated to us for three years. We serve 39 individuals, offering safety through basic needs, and robust services through partnerships with social service agencies in our county. 18% of our shelter guests become housed – this is a result of our guests linking with housing counselors, mental and physical health care providers, and case management.

YEAR 3 Nov. 15, 2019 – April 15, 2020
OUR mission and vision is renewed! Dedicated Support!
We support our neighbors experiencing homelessness with robust programs, including referrals to services, accountability through case management and staff follow-through, and day programs including art and group therapy. We reflect on the last two years and plan based on experience, research, community, and compassion.

OUR Budget:
40% of our operating costs come from private and business donations.
We need to raise at least $60,000 from our community to operate a shelter from Nov. 15 - to April 15.
Half of our expenses pay for trained staff to lead on-sight and off-sight programming.

OUR Future is Now: Enough is not Enough!
We are looking for our forever home for season 2021-2022.
We will continue to collaborate with our community for day time resources for our guests, and envision planning for year-round support for those without shelter.
We will partner with Lamoille Housing Partnership and other housing resources to advocate for affordable, safe housing in our county.
