Sing for Peace XII Saturday Sep. 28 in Colchester

Past event
Sep 28, 2019, 7:30 to 9 PM

If you're in the Burlington area on Saturday, September 28th, Counterpoint hosts the 12th Annual Sing for Peace in the Chapel at Saint Michael's College in Colchester at 7:30pm. Open to the public and asking free will donations, this annual concert donates funds raised to nearby organizations committed to creating a more peaceful world.

Counterpoint will be joined by the Aurora Chamber Singers of Burlington, Wrensong of the VT/NH Upper Valley, and Saint Michael's College Chorale.  Sing For Peace continues the tradition begun in 2007 by Counterpoint founder Robert De Cormier. Their eclectic set concludes with an amazing, fiery arrangement based on Aretha Franklin's cover of "Bridge over Troubled Water" that will raise your hair and lift your heart.

This year's beneficiary organization is Hands in Peace (handsinpeace.org). Hands in Peace builds peace among diverse communities, utilizing a modern model of the ancient Olympic Pentathlon (running, jumping, wrestling, discus, and javelin) and PACT educational materials (Pentathlon, Arts, Communication, and Truce) for training teachers, coaches, and judges, developed for children by Spacial Dynamics® Institute. The Hands in Peace festivals, held both in the United States and internationally, create a safe space for transformative conflict resolution for children and their communities. A Hands in Peace festival is more than an athletic or educational event, it is a peacebuilding experience.
