The Vermont Humanities Council has selected the graphic book "March: Book One" as the Vermont Reads 2019 book of the year. "March: Book One" is the first of a trilogy written by civil rights icon John Lewis, in collaboration with co-writer Andrew Aydin and award-winning graphic artist Nate Powell. On Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6:30pm, the Martha Canfield Library invites you to come and talk about ways graphic books can enhance your reading experience.
The Library is pairing "March: Book One" with "To Kill a Mockingbird", by Harper Lee, and this evening we will read aloud from the first chapter. Both books will be available for loan at the program or at the front desk during library hours. Additional Vermont Reads programs at the Library will include a film, a talk about eugenics in Vermont and a book discussion. For details and a schedule, check our website, marthacanfieldlibrary.org or call us at 802-375-6153. These programs are sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council and the Martha Canfield Library and are free and open to the public.
