The fourth lecture in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute's (OLLI) fall session will be held on Wednesday, September 25 when Bird Diva Bridget Butler presents Owls of Vermont. Who hasn't paused to listen to the haunting "hoot" of an owl in the evening? There are ten different species of owls in our state and you will learn how and when to look for them. Bridget will teach us to recognize the calls of our most common species and also to be able to hoot in response. Find out why these birds are so amazing and what you can do to keep owls a part of the Vermont Landscape.
Bridget Butler, AKA The Bird Diva, has been working in conservation and environmental education for more than 20 years throughout New England. She earned her degree in Biology, Marine and Freshwater from UHH, Durham. Her business, Bird Diva Consulting, has her traveling across Vermont delivering presentations, leading bird walks and surveying birds for landowners. Bridget has worked for the Audubon Society in VT, NH, ME and MA. She helped to create Audubon Vermont's Forest Bird Initiative. You may have seen her on WCAX or WPTZ talking about birds and conservation or heard her on VPR's annual bird shows on Vermont Edition. She has also served as the Christmas Bird Count Organizer.
