The eggcentric and the eggsquisite meet at the Great Goose Egg Auction, Open Fields School's biennial fundraiser, to be held this year at the Newberry Market in downtown White River Junction, VT. Starting with an eleggant Opening Eggshibition during the WRJ First Friday (October 4, 4:30 – 8:00 pm), and continuing on Saturday, October 5 with the 1:00 pm live auction (doors open at 11:30 am), these ovoid works by artists young and old, famous and new-to-the-art- world have to be seen to be fully appreciated. This year's goose egg creations (with a couple of ostrich eggs thrown in) include painted, drawn, sculpted and otherwise transformed works of all sorts, combining fine art and whimsy, and a nearly ineggsaustible supply of puns.

Absentee bidding is accepted at the Opening or through the school's website (www.openfields.org). If you can't attend but want all the eggcitement of the auction, you can sign up for telephone bidding by advance arrangement.
