Lyndon's Historic Roots with Images with Beth Kanell

Past event

You've probably heard of the great Vermont flood of 1927. But what about Lyndonville's "$500,000 Fire" of 1924? Today's "downtown" was shaped by fires and floods. Most of all, it took early form as two philanthropists made their dreams come true for the town and region, and as the railroad recovered from another fire at its St. Johnsbury depot. Hear about Elmer, Theodore, Solomon, and Venila — as well as John Norris and others who turned their own profits into benefits for this Vermont town. Adventure and risk? That's how history comes to life for Vermont historic novelist Beth Kanell. Join us for a very unusual survey of the town, and to rediscover a story of your own. Please join us with this presentation from Beth which will be open for questions and discussion afterwards. Post images will be available.
