Hello, neighbors!
The due date to license your dogs (without incurring additional fees) is April 1. Licensing your dog is not only the law, it is the decent thing to do. It gives our us a record so we can quickly identify you as the owner if your dog ends up on someone else's porch. Knowing that your dog is up to date on its rabies shots gives everyone peace of mind if (God forbid!) a bite should happen. Plus, a portion of each fee goes toward the state's spay and neutering program from which we all benefit. Win. Win. Win!
So, if you've been holding back on licensing because of the cost of a rabies shot, this is your weekend to bring Fido up to date. Several rabies clinics that offer discount vaccines are being held Saturday. Here are a few:
Central Vermont Humane Society: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. First come, first serve. $15 for rabies and $15 for distemper. Also, just $25 for a microchip! Click on this link for more info: http://cvhumane.com/news/rabies-vaccine-clinic/
Roxbury : 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Roxbury Town Garage. $10 rabies/$14 distemper.
Randolph: 10 a.m. to noon at the Randolph Town Clerk's Office. $15/rabies shot.
Send a copy of your updated rabies vaccine certificate + $10/neutered or spayed dog, $14/other, to 5 Church Street, Middlesex, Vermont 05602, and I will send you back a license and tag. I will accept as timely all requests postmarked on or before April 1. Please make checks payable to the Town of Middlesex.
Any questions? Call 223-5915 and I'll be glad to help.
