Location: Jaquith Public Library, 122 School St., Marshfield
Recently, high levels of uranium were found in the drinking water of a home in Marshfield and high levels of radon were found in the air of the Marshfield municipal building. If they were found in your neighbor's well water or indoor air, they could be in your water or air, too.
Come join the Vermont Department of Health to learn how these elements can get into your home – and affect your health – at the Marshfield library Wed., Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. The event will feature Sille Larsen, senior water resources engineer, and Michelle Thompson, public health industrial hygienist.
The first 30 people who register for the talk will get the three drinking water test kits recommended for homeowners for FREE – a value of $184! You can register by emailing AHS.VDHPrivateWellTestResults@vermont.gov.
The only way to know what's in your well water and indoor air is to test it. You can get a FREE long-term radon in air test kit at the event, or anytime by calling 800-439-8550 (toll-free in Vermont) or emailing radon@vermont.gov.
You can also purchase the recommended drinking water test kits by calling Health Department laboratory at 1-800-660-9997. They include: a bacterial test (Kit A), an inorganic chemical test (Kit C), a gross alpha radiation test (Kit RA), and a radon in water test (Kit RC).
