Please join Middlebury College's anti-human trafficking student organization, Stop Traffick, to hear Francis Buk (Bok) speak about his experience as a child slave in Sudan in Dana Auditorium (in the Sunderland Building on the college campus).
Buk was kidnapped at age 7, forced to work on a farm, and successfully escaped at age 17 on his third attempt. Francis will speak for about an hour, and an open discussion will follow. As a modern-day abolitionist, Buk played an instrumental role in convincing the United States government to push for a peace agreement which ended Sudan's second civil war (1983 – 2005) and provided for South Sudan's 2011 referendum on independence. Buk has written an autobiography, Escape From Slavery, and has been featured in the Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor, and Wall Street Journal. We hope to see you at the event! Please reach out to stoptraffick@middlebury.edu with any questions. All are welcome.
