Free Home Canning Workshop

Grow Your Own will host a free home canning workshop entitled, "Yes You Can Can" in Hardwick on Saturday, October 5, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Center for an Agricultural Economy. Patti LeBlanc will lead the workshop which will cover principles of water bath and pressure canning equipment, safety and methods. Participants will make chili soup and apple pie filling. The workshop is free but space is limited. Participants must register by October 2. To register please email Director@hardwickareafoodpantry or call the pantry at (802) 472-5940. Child care and transportation can potentially be arranged if that is a barrier to participation. Children's activities will be provided for younger children, and older ones are encouraged to participate in the workshop if they are interested. A snack will be provided. Grow Your Own is a project of the Hardwick Area Food Pantry, Center for an Agricultural Economy and NEK Kids on the Move (Wonder Arts). The mission of Grow Your Own is increased food independence, better health and wellbeing through shared knowledge and experience.
