Ledgewood E911 Address Change Meeting

Past event
Sep 26, 2019, 6:30 to 6:30 PM

For those interested in E911 address renumbering in Ledgewood, Jay Appleton, the City E911 Coordinator, has scheduled a meeting to discuss the Readdressing Plan for Ledgewood on Thursday September 26 at 5:30 pm. in the front conference room at Dept of Public Works building at 645 Pine Street (on the corner of Pine and Lakeside across from Cumberland Farms).

Unfortunately, though I've been one of the voices speaking out against rushing into this permanent change rashly, I will be out of town that day and unable to attend, but I hope this will be well-attended. Though I am very much in favor of moving forward with this renumbering, I know that many of my neighbors think that the initial numbering scheme proposed by the city is confusing and unwieldy. I have heard several proposals for more rational, simpler ones, and I hope these will be considered. Most importantly, I hope that Ledgewood residents will show up to suggest that we pause this process briefly until we can properly discuss the upcoming change and consider the best way to go about it.

We have waited several decades to make this change, and we will likely be living with this change for the rest of our lives. I think we can take a few extra weeks to consider careful.y how it should be implemented.
