Calling on aspiring authors, or those of you who just enjoy writing and want to learn more. The Horace Greeley Writer's Symposium will be held on Saturday, October 19.
In its 17th year of offering the writers' symposium, the non-profit Horace Greeley Foundation, funded through donations and proceeds from Symposium fees, is dedicated to promoting the writer's trade and the spirit of public oration that was central to Greeley's life.
What is perhaps equally central to our mission is preserving the sense of place and memory of life in a small New England village. Each year, we meet in those places where Greeley lived, worked, debated and voraciously read the books and journals that fed his intellectual curiosity.
This year's symposium will be held on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 at the United Baptist Church in East Poultney, VT from 9am-5pm. This year's keynote speaker is author and publisher Megan Price of the Vermont Wild Series.
Megan is a Fair Haven native who worked as a journalist for many years at the Rutland Herald among other papers. Megan was then elected to serve three terms as a Vermont state legislator and most recently is known for her bestselling "Vermont Wild: Adventures of Fish and Game Wardens" book series. Her unique story telling has proven a hit with ages 9 to 99, with her books across the globe. "Vermont Wild" has even caught the eye of an Emmy award-winning Hollywood producer who is not to bring the stories to television.
We think Horace, who loved newspapers and politics, would approve of the paths that Megan has travelled! Come learn and laugh as Megan regales you with secrets of her remarkable journey.
Additional speakers include Ann Rich Duncan and Burnham Holmes.
