The Sixth Annual Champlain Islands Crop Walk will be held on October 20. Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. at the South Hero Congregational Church, and the walkers depart promptly at 1:30 to be led by Bagpiper, Joe Pobieglo. The round trip walk is a little over a mile in distance. To register for this walk go to crophungerwalk.org/champlainislands. There you can sponsor someone already walking with an on line donation and/or register yourself so people can contribute in your name. Our goal this year is to raise $6,000. Please help us reach or exceed this goal.
This is the 50th year that CROP hunger walks have occurred across the United States. Twenty-five per cent of funds raised remain in the islands divided equally between Food for Thought and The Food Shelf. The remaining 75% go to the CROP central office at Church World Service to be available for dispersal to national and world wide disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, refugees displaced by war and violence from their native lands, etc. CWS disperses the CROP funds, by working with many non-profit, non-governmental agencies, as well as USAID to assure that resources meet human needs regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, nationality or any other defining human characteristic. Thank you in advance for walking and/or contributing.
