The Untold Story of the Cuban Missile Crisis

The third lecture in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute will be held on Wednesday, September 18, when author Michael Tougias presents The Untold Story of the Cuban Missile Crisis (JFK and America's Most Dangerous Spy Mission). It highlights President Kennedy's decision-making process during this highly stressful time. Tougias is a New York Times bestselling author and co-author of 29 books, including seven survival at sea stories. His latest book, Above and Beyond, views the Cuban Missile Crisis from an unusual perspective.

Tougias enjoys the challenge of writing all types of books and has won awards for books in the categories of humor, young adult and history. He co-wrote King Philip's Indian War and a humor and outdoor book, There's a Porcupine in My Outhouse: Misadventures of a Mountain Man Wanna-be that won the Independent Publishers Association Award for best nature book of the year. He also gives inspirational presentations for business groups and colleges sharing what he has learned from survivors and rescuers about overcoming adversity, making sound decisions and leadership.

Osher lectures begin at 1:30 sharp. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. at the Commodores Inn restaurant, 823 S. Main Street, Route 100, Stowe. Refreshments follow the presentation. There is a $5 fee for non-members and $30 to become an OLLI member (9-lecture series).
