North Branch Café Presents "Strife and Joy," an evening of wine and song with Live-Looping Singer-Violinist Emma Back.
Back's 2019 concert series brings together new pieces and songs from her 2018 release "Little World" that examine the root of strife and joy as felt through loss/love, death/birth, sickness/health and the inner-life of human beings.
The event will feature a "wine and song pairing" where four wines have been specifically selected to mirror the themes of the songs, exploring notes of impermanence, conflict, receiving, and comfort. Opportunities for audience participation and dialogue will be woven throughout the concert experience.
Friday September 20th, 6:30pm. Get the full wine and song experience for $25 (includes $15 wine value) or purchase concert tickets only for $15. Tickets can be purchased online in advance at emmabackmusic.com/tour or at the door.
Back uses a loop pedal to create lush layers of rhythm and harmony, accomplishing a sonic and poetic lyricism that reaches deep into the past and far into the future simultaneously. Her dynamic, multi-dimensional performance features vocal percussion, haunting melodic storytelling, jazz and klezmer inspired violin riffs and harmonic influences ranging from Eastern-Europe to American Roots.
"Charming sensibilities, excellent structuring and arranging, as well as her ability to confound emotionally will likely bring listeners back for repeat encounters." (Jordan Adams, Seven Days VT).
