House Concert: Nicolas Babineau/Alexis Chartrand Sept. 21

Nicolas Babineau and Alexis Chartrand bring their new album to Vermont! We are very pleased to be hosting these two talented and wise-beyond-their-years young musicians for what promises to be a dynamic and joyful concert.Their love of fiddle music from the francophone communities of Eastern Canada shines through their interpretation of repertoire from Gaspésie, Newfoundland and Cape Breton. Tunes from Louis Boudreault, Joseph Larade, Émile Benoit and Franco-American fiddler Wilfred Guillette are explored through the duo's sensitivity, sometimes softly and intimately recalling an old air, sometimes bursting with playful energy.

Nicolas Babineau and Alexis Chartrand are two young Québécois musicians brought together by a common passion for traditional music. Their shared interest in recordings of old fiddlers inspires their performances of traditional québécois repertoire. They sometimes play two fiddles, and sometimes allow the guitar to accompany the melodies, with their feet energizing the dance tunes. In May 2017, the duo released their first album, Gigues à deux faces, and have performed throughout Québec, across Canada, New-England, and Sweden.

The concert starts at 7pm, optional potluck is at 6pm. Suggested donation to musicians is $15. Reservations strongly encouraged. To reserve a space, get more information or directions, please contact Tracy Loysen at 223-1234 or taloysen@aol.com.
