On Sunday, September 15 from 4 to 5 P.M., bluegrass band Red Barn Hayloft will perform at the West Brookfield Meetinghouse. Red Barn Hayloft is a five-piece band based in Brookfield. Composed of Jonathan Falby on guitar, Tim Gershon on mandolin, Dave Love on banjo, Andy Stone on upright bass, and Bill Cameron on fiddle, Red Barn Hayloft produces bluegrass that is both traditional and contemporary. Their diverse repertoire is filled with bluegrass classics, fiddle tunes, ballads and a few gospel numbers. According to The Caledonian Record, the band produces "a lush, layered sound that waxes forlorn one minute and gleeful the next." The band formed in 2015 in the Silver Dome, an old dairy barn in East Brookfield once used as a dance hall. Red Barn Hayloft now performs throughout Vermont.
Suggested donation for the concert is $10 for individuals, $15 for families. The concert is a fundraiser to benefit restoration projects at the meetinghouse.
Following the concert, at 5:15 PM, the West Brookfield Village Trust will host a potluck picnic supper and lawn games at the West Brookfield Meetinghouse. A brief annual business meeting will follow. The public is invited to attend and celebrate the completion of the plaster restoration project at the meetinghouse. The supper will be held indoors in the event of rain or other inclement weather.
The West Brookfield Meetinghouse is located on the West Brookfield Road off Route 12, 8 miles north of Randolph. For further information, please call 728-5320 or go to https://www.facebook.com/events/2396334694021860/
