Very Special Concert to Help Save Democracy
ANNOUNCEMENT
One of the ways democracy in this country has gotten out of kilter is through partisan gerrymandering, which has very nearly destroyed the "one person, one vote" principle we all hold so dear.
It's time to stand up and fight for fair elections, and you can do just that in a very fun way: come to the next Blue Wave Concert at the Maple Corner Community Center in Calais on Saturday, Sept.14 at 7:00 pm. National touring folk musicians Dana and Susan Robinson are donating their considerable talents in this fundraiser for candidates for the Virginia legislature, so bring your credit cards or checkbook.
Light refreshments will be served; BYOB.
Why Virginia? That's where we can do the best work this year, because Virginia holds its elections in the off years. Indivisible Calais is working with the campaigns of several Democratic and Progressive candidates who support the Equal Rights Amendment, gun control, and fair elections.
Democracy cannot be won only at the presidential and congressional levels. We need to be in the trenches at the state level too.
This is serious business, folks. But we also believe in being neighbors, sharing community, and having fun! So come on out to the Maple Corner Community Center in Calais on the 14th! Enjoy the music, raise some money, and know it all matters.
