Welcome to Isham Street!
This Friday, September 6, from 4-7 PM, ISGOOD (Isham Street Gardening and Other Optimistic Doings) will be hosting "Welcome to Isham Street." We will be celebrating our community and the work of ISGOOD, as we welcome new neighbors to the street during our annual September event.
From 4-5 PM, we will be cleaning up trash on the street and freshening up some of the community gardens with neighbors and volunteers from the Champlain Valley DSA (Democratic Socialists of America).
From 5-6 PM, we will have some free food (provided by UVM Office of Student and Community Relations) and we will spend some time meeting each other, talking about the history of ISGOOD and how our gardens have improved quality of life on our street and reduced crime, and sharing information about tenants' rights and the efforts to organize a tenant's union in the Burlington area.
From 6-7 PM, we will be playing some games, having fun, and spending time just getting to know each other better.
ISGOOD (Isham Street Gardening and Other Optimistic Doings) uses gardening and other acts of kindness and optimism to improve our street, neighborhood, and city. By creating a more beautiful and harmonious physical environment, we improve the social environment and the quality of life in our community.
