Relocalizing VT: Migrant Experience in Vermont

Past event
Sep 5, 2019, 9 to 10:30 AM

Coming up Thursday on Goddard College Community Radio - Montpelier students' take on the immigrant farmworker experience in Vermont.

9:00 - 10:00 am
Colleen Purcell's Advanced Placement Spanish students at Montpelier High School spent their 2019 spring semester learning about the experience of immigrant farmworkers in Vermont, by talking to the workers themselves, a local dairy farmer who employs immigrants, and others. They've packaged what they learned into an audio program of interviews and narration. We'll also get a behind-the-scenes report from Colleen about producing the show, as well as her reflections on what she has seen change for immigrants over the five years her students have done this project.

10:00 - 10:30 am
Resilience Thoughts, a locally told Extempo story, plus upcoming events related to energy, food, and the local economy at the end of the age of oil.
