Hi neighbors!
I am writing to let the Richmond community know about an upcoming conference for kinship caregivers. Often times when parents are unable to care for their children, kinship caregivers step into parenting roles. These could be grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, older siblings, family friends, etc. Sometimes it is temporary and other times it leads to adoption. There are many kinship families in VT and it could be that each person reading this post knows a kinship caregiver. That is why I figured it would not hurt to post the conference information here. Please share it with those you think may be interested in this program.
The conference is free for caregivers and includes lunch and lots of time for connecting with other kinship families from all around the state. The workshops and keynote will be great and also I imagine that the community building is the reason most people come to this particular conference each year.
This is the 15th Annual VKAP Conference for Kinship Caregivers and those who support them. This year's title is "Parenting Revisited: Families are Changing" and the keynote is Adrian M. McLemore. For more information and/or to register visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/parenting-revisited-families-are-changing-tickets-62571507062
Thank you for helping to get the word out about this event and for the kinship families out there, I really hope to see you on September 10th!
