Hi neighbors!
I am writing to let the Richmond community know about an upcoming conference for kinship caregivers. When grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, older siblings, family friends, etc. raise children in their lives/families when parents are unable to is called kinship care. Sometimes it is temporary and other times it leads to adoption and is more permanent. There are many kinship families in VT and it could be that each person reading this post knows a kinship caregiver. That is why I figured it would not hurt to post the conference information here. Please share it with those you think may be interested in this program.
The conference is free for caregivers and includes lunch and lots of time for connecting with other kinship families from all around the state. The workshops and keynote will be great and also I imagine that the community building is the reason most people come to this particular conference each year.
This is the 15th Annual VKAP Conference for Kinship Caregivers and those who support them. This year's title is "Parenting Revisited: Families are Changing" and the keynote is Adrian M. McLemore. Thank you for helping to get the word out about this event and for the kinship families out there, I really hope you sign up and that I will see you on September 10th!
