Contra Dance at the Grange Hall!

Past event
Aug 31, 2019, 7:30 to 11 PM

The last Saturday in August brings another great dance, featuring Ron Blechner & "Triton". This is part of the year-round "Montpelier Contra Dance" series, organized by the Contra Dance Umbrella.

Ron will be leading the "newcomers" session at about 7:45 PM, and will teach and call enjoyable, social dances for everyone from 8:00 to 11:00. If you are new to this type of dancing, or would like a refresher on the basics, come on over for the intro session.

Ron is a Massachusetts-based caller who calls for dances like ours all over the Northeast, and beyond. He's written lots of dances, as well as calling dances from the traditional repertoire.

"Triton" includes Jeremiah McLane on accordion & piano, Tim Cummings on whistles, border- and small-pipes, Alex Kehler on fiddle & nykelharpa, and Eric MacDonald on guitar and mandolin. This will be another evening of exciting dance music!

Tips for dancers: bring clean shoes for dancing on "one of the best dance floors in New England", or clean them up with our tools. Wear light, comfortable clothing. Bring a water bottle, or keep hydrated with our water fountains. Come by yourself and find dance partners in our friendly group, and bring your friends!

Capital City Grange Hall is at 6612 Rt. 12/Northfield St., just south of the I-89 overpass, 1 mile south of Montpelier. Admission—basic price is $10 for adults, $5 for kids & low-income.
