Archery Intensive Weekend Sept. 7-8

Past event
Sep 7 to 8, 2019

Join us for a weekend of archery. Let your soul unclench, open and connect: with the forest, with the arrow, with your fellow archers. Archery calls us to truth. Our intent must be clear, our will focused, and our mind calm.

This weekend workshop is designed for people who want to dive deep into the practice of instinctive archery. We will shoot with traditional recurve bows that are easy to draw and simple to understand. This workshop is for those who are just getting started with archery, intermediate archers who want to improve their aim, and anyone who wants to practice archery in a supportive & empowering community of archers. Whether you want to shoot your bow as a spiritual meditative practice or as an aspiring bow hunter, this weekend will teach you the foundational skills you need:

Proper archery stance
How to hold the bow
Developing a consistent anchor for your draw
How to determine your dominant eye
Measuring the proper arrow length for your body
Safety considerations when setting up a range at home
How to select basic equipment
Engaging your breath cycle while shooting
How to use archery to calm and focus your mind
Using archery for self understanding
What you need to learn if you want to become a safe & ethical bowhunter

Best of all, you'll get plenty of shooting practice! Since we can't shoot all day long (muscles get tired) we'll do lots of shorter sessions at the range, mixed with other activities like learning about equipment and each sewing our own leather quiver.
